sometimes only a brownie will do
I saw a beautiful photo of gooey brownies last week on Instagram that I actually took a screen shot of for future reference.* Now, ordinarily, screen shots end up filed away somewhere I will never find them again. Wouldn't it be great if you could pin from Instagram? Anyway, today was a brownie kind of day. I remembered that shot while at the grocery store and looked up the recipe. I was shocked to discover that I already had all of the ingredients. Meant to be? I think yes.
Let me just say that I am ordinarily an out-of-the-box-brownie type person. I’m lazy when it comes to baking. But I wanted to give these a try and I am glad I did. I have never melted butter and sugar and cocoa over simmering water in a skillet. Nor have I ever baked something with only a half cup of flour. All new. I would recommend gazing longingly at the photos on Food 52 and then following the recipe to the letter. And maybe invite some people over so that you don’t eat the whole batch.
