“Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style.”

DREAM HOUSE DISTRACTION IS REAL.
Mess and clutter are part of living with kids. The overwhelm caused by all the stuff, the uncomfortable feeling of an unfinished room - these are real distractions. Here’s the thing though: you can reduce the distraction at home, and are you ready for this? The solution doesn’t have to be magazine-perfect to be perfect for your family. You can make your home functional and beautiful. You can be happy with the home you already have. And - bonus - more contentment with your home means less distraction at home, which means more ability to focus on what’s right there in front of you: your life and your family.
DESIGN ISN’T ONE SIZE FITS ALL.
The old way to decorate is to hire someone else to do it all for you. Let someone “with taste” limit the universe of possibilities and create the “perfect” home (hiding away your treasures in the process). No decorator for you? You could keep pining for perfection of a life to come, meanwhile settling into distraction for the foreseeable future. Maybe not that either. How about copying the look that everyone is loving right now (insert cottage-core, maximalism, minimalism, granny chic, etc. here)? Yeah, that one doesn’t quite satisfy either.
There is another way. You can collaborate with a decorator who can help you merge your and your family’s interests and passions with your real-life needs and home limitations in order to create a home that is uniquely for your family. Collaboration empowers ownership. Good design feeds family connection. Together, we can make your space truly reflect you and your family.
Maybe you need help creating a landing zone for the endless papers and do-dads that come home with your kids. Or maybe you need a bedroom plan that actually works for your two kids and all their Legos. Maybe you need a space of your own to retreat, recenter, refresh. Let’s talk. Really. Let’s start making your home the cornerstone for your family that you really want. There’s so much more to life than decorating. Let’s get that out of the way so you can enjoy the good stuff - living with your family.
Making space work for our family at home led me back to school to learn the rules of interior design. I earned a Basic Interior Design Certificate from New York School of Interior Design in July 2017 and have been helping people chart their own course at home ever since.
My people say that I’m adventurous, thoughtful, tenacious, and a pretty good sounding board. My kids say that I work hard and I never give up. That, my friends, is a high compliment. And it’s the truth.
Just so you know that there’s a human running this show, here are a few things about me:
I fully subscribe to the philosophy that a party without cake is just a meeting. Likewise, what’s the point of movie night if your popcorn bowl doesn’t also have candy in it?
When exploring a new place, I always look first for the independent book stores and bakeries. That’s where the cool people hang out.
I’m a list-maker, homework enforcer, recovering perfectionist, and always have more ideas than time.
I love wallpaper, the beach, a good run, real paper magazines and real paper books, dinner with the whole crazy family, Christmas, people watching, and dancing in the car with the soccer carpool.
I don’t love red, tchotchkes, or meal planning.
Oh, yeah. And as mom/step-mom to a fairly large blended family of seven kids, I do, at times, feel like I live in a circus, and more importantly, I have mostly learned to embrace it.
